Spring Green Wisconsin-Brewed Beer Soap®

There is a persistent myth, held by those who have not looked closely enough, that Wisconsin is a land of cheese, cornfields, and cold. It is understandable. It is also spectacularly incorrect.

Along the south-facing slopes of the hills and bluffs that rise from Wisconsin's southern prairie — particularly near the storied town of Spring Green, that singular community perched on the eastern edge of the Driftless Region and the open prairie both — something wholly unexpected grows. Low to the ground, spreading unhurriedly across sandy soil in the full heat of the summer sun, the prickly pear cactus (Opuntia humifusa) blooms in vivid, defiant magenta. It is native. It has always been here. Most Wisconsinites have no idea it exists.

It is, in the considered opinion of Wisconsin Waterfalls Soap & Etc., one of the state's finest secrets — and it deserved a soap worthy of its audacity.

Spring Green opens with the bright, almost effervescent clarity of herbal greens and sparkling citrus — the particular quality of early morning air on a southern Wisconsin prairie, before the heat of the day has fully committed. The heart blooms into vanilla coconut and cactus flower — lush, warm, and unexpectedly tropical, the way the prickly pear blossom itself seems almost impossibly exotic against the backdrop of a Wisconsin hillside. Warm musk and sandalwood close the composition with a grounded, sun-warmed depth — the sandy soil and open sky of a prairie afternoon, settling toward evening.

This is Wisconsin in its most surprising and luminous form. We suggest you lather accordingly.

Brewed with one of Wisconsin's most beloved beers, of the Spotted Bovine variety — selected with the same deliberate regional intention that defines every decision made in this workshop — because regional authenticity, in this workshop, is not merely an aesthetic choice. It is a standard.

And why beer in a bar of soap? The question is fair, and the answer is rather satisfying. Beer's natural sugars produce an exceptionally rich, creamy lather that plain water simply cannot replicate. Its B vitamins and antioxidants lend a subtle nourishing quality to the skin, while the yeast contributes to a smoother, more conditioning wash experience. The result is a bar that performs as distinctively as it smells — which, in the tradition of Wisconsin Waterfalls Soap & Etc., is the only acceptable outcome.
